The BCCI revealed in Deccan Chronic that Rohit Sharma would be the vice-captain for Indian Team for ICC Champions 2017. Playing as the opening batsman for Team India he could hold the position of vice-captaincy too. Although it is not the official announcement from BCCI.

Looking back to the most recent previously held match India-Australia series, Ajinkya Rahane was seen to fulfill the captaincy of Virat Kohl but this time he is out of the game due to the shoulder injury. As Rohit Sharma lead the role of captaincy for Mumbai Indian in IPL 2017 with brilliant performance throughout the series, making the team to won IPL 2017 trophy proves to be the best player for the position of Vice-Captain for India. “The selectors have not announced the name of the vice-captain. However, among themselves, they have already chosen one, but will be announced only if required in an emergency,” the source was quoted saying.”

The ICC Champions Trophy will start on 1st June 2017 where England will face Bangladesh. The first match for India will be against Pakistan on 4th June 2017.
