IPL 2018- Is it Good or Bad news for GL and RPS?

IPL Auction 2018  – Is it Good or Bad news for GL and RPS?

With the end of IPL 2017, the contract for two well-played teams i.e Gujarat Lions and Rising Super Gaint have also ended. The two teams were introduced in IPL before 2 years when CSK and RR teams were suspended by the Supreme Court due to spot-fixing and corruption scandal. According to BCCI, they cannot have more than 8 teams as it becomes difficult to fix the matches moreover if it happens most of the matches will going to be held on daytime resulting negative impact on quality of cricket and low TRP.

So it is certain that it would be a bad news for both the teams if not including in IPL 2018. But this could also possible that if the two teams want to come back after the end of the contact they have to go through a proper fresh bidding process.

Played in the last two season of IPL GL and RPS has got the chance to retain 5 players from the suspended franchises. Both the teams have performed well throughout the season giving tough competition to rest of the teams, However RPS got the services of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Steven Smith and Faf du Plessis, Rajkot chose Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Brendon McCullum, James Faulkner and Dwayne Bravo.

Despite the fact they have performed brilliantly, unforuntently the end of contact will not allow them to enter in IPL 2018. Everyone is thinking about the same question what all will be the possibility of IPL 2018.

Let’s have a look

1. The most obvious possibility is that both the franchises may be scrapped and the players will enter again in auction pool.  Even BCCI president Shashank Manohar had said in press conference that the bidding had been done only for two years and the two new teams will not continue.

2. The fewer chances scenario would be the two teams will IPL 2018 will come up with two teams. When questioned in the press conference BCCI president stated that the board had to take a call on this yet. After few days the BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur revealed that BCCI will be fixed with 8 teams including of two more teams will make the negative impact on cricket and low TRP as most of the matches will take place in an afternoon.

Despite all the facts, we can say that the two teams have performed well and it is not the bad idea to give a try to 10 teams in IPL 2018.
