During the last nine IPL seasons, some of the players are well known for playing a role of captaincy but there are quiet several captains who captained for short period of time. List of captaincy players whom you might not know
The IPL edition of 2013 was not good for the Pune Warriors where they have changed with 3 new captains. It was the last season when Saurav Ganguly got retirement of play and was replaced by Michael Clarks but he has too left captaincy for his injuries during the match. This allows the Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews to take over command of captaincy but unfortunately, he lost the first three matches the role of captaincy passed over Aaron Finch in 2013 season. Although he proved to be the great captain in T20Is, but it was not the great season for an Australian opener.
Under his captaincy, the team lost first eight games out of 10. Although he showed his powerful performance with his bat in ending of matches. In both the matches, he fired with his bat to win.
The year of 2011 was not good for Delhi Daredevils as the matches were concerned. They missed out IPL with the third edition of matches where qualified for the playoffs of the two. They finished up the game in 2011 at the bottom of the pile. Although Virendra Sehwag was the captain of Delhi Daredevils in 2011, but the last seasons was played under the captaincy of James Hopes. The Austrailian all-rounder was not able to make the team win a single match, it was also not great end of the season for Delhi Daredevils as the captain was not able to make or break any of the records to his name. Failure of Delhi Daredevils make under the captains of James Hopes left with no hopes of victory for the team.
The IPL 2010 edition was lead by the captain Sachin Tendulkar for the Mumbai Indians. With his brilliant performance he able to take his team for maiden IPL title. Although for the preparation of payoffs, he left his captaincy under the name of West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who lead the captain role for the final group of matches.
Sachin the highest run scorer in the tournament played for the team in the good form decided to gave last group games as thought to win 10 of 13 matches in a tournament. He finished well from his side but unfortunately, Bravo did not go according to the plans as a team lost the game under his captaincy.They lost the match losing 9 wickets and 15 spare balls. After that Dwayne Bravo did not captain IPL matches yet he shown his powerful performance with his ball to brings a name to the list of best players.
Parthiv Patel has played more IPL matches than the international matches. He has scored the total of 2000 runs in the tournament when played for a number of teams including Chennai Super Kings, Deccan Chargers, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians. Despite playing for a number of teams he has captained for only one for Kochi Tuskers Kerala in IPL 2011.
He leads the role of captain when Mahela Jayawardene was left in the final match of the group stage. Under the captaincy of Parthiv Patel, the team lost the match against the Chennai Super Kings but it was not big deal as the team was already out of the playoffs going into their final games.
Having the 100% of winning games in IPL, Ross Taylor prove to be the successful captain who has won more games than he lost as skipper.Ross Taylor leads for Pune Warriors to play against Chennai Super Kings after leaf by Angelo Mathews who lost in 3 games out of 4. The results were not good after losing the match against Sunrise Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab, and Mumbai Indians. They left hopeless to win the side of IPL but with the score of Aaron Finch’s fifty and tight bowling of Smith’s cameo help Pune to win the match by 24 runs. But the poor performance Ross Taylor allow searching new captain face as Aaron Finch after just one game.
