The star team who win is 2012 and 2014 are looking forward to winning the trophy in 10th IPL edition. Although they lost the match against Sunrise Hyderabad the winning team of IPL 2016, this time the captain and management looked quiet to focus on selecting the team at the auction held in Bengaluru. They have shown more interest in picking local players against big names with iron-clad mindset. Ishant Sharma who is one of the players of KKR has been ignored in this auction as Gautam Gambhir feels that the base price of 2 crores is too high set by Ishant Sharma.

This time they have made few changes in the team including mainstays like Brad Hogg, Jason Holder, Morne Morkel and Shaun Tait. KKR did some smart shopping of players at this auction keeping in mind the performance and base price of players. It was excepted that they will give more preferance to spinners in bowling department. But the strategy was totally different when they bought up the pacers instead of spinners. The seamers include the name of Chris Woakes, Trent Boult, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rishi Dhawan, Sayan Ghosh and all-rounder Rovman Powell. Darren Bravo for batting and from India Sanjay Yadav with Ishant Jaggie for spinners.
